I made an old lady blush today at work because she ordered two senior coffees and I said “SENIOR ? I’m sorry miss, i’m going to have to ask to see some ID.” and she covered her mouth and went “Oh dear me” and couldn’t stop smiling

Recent survey in Herald Sun reveals attitudes about rape and violence against women in the general populace
A new VicHealth report reveals one in five people believes that if a woman is drunk or drug affected, then she is partly responsible for rape.
16 per cent believed that women often said “no” when they meant “yes”.

Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Ken Lay said “…Let me put this simply — there is no circumstance where violence against women is understandable or acceptable.”
He said men needed to have hard conversations about changing the language, attitude and misogynist behaviour that lay at the heart of male violence towards women.
Of particular concern was that young people, particularly men, were more likely to have attitudes to violence against women that justify, excuse, trivialise, and shift blame.
VicHealth CEO Jerril Rechter said it was worrying the number of people who still believed rape and violence were justified and that women were partially to blame.
“A culture that excuses rape and violence is one that allows it to happen,” she said. “Violence is a choice, not an instinct and it is never excusable.”

wow. just wow.

This world is disgusting

Working at LUSH: the saga

I have had men some into a store I used to work at asking if “this hairspray will work on men” and when I said yes they said “but it’s purple”

Shit.

Sometimes you meet someone, and it’s so clear that the two of you, on some level belong together. as lovers, or as friends, or as family, or as something entirely different. you just work, whether you understand one another or you’re in love or you’re partners in crime. you meet these people throughout your life, out of nowhere, under the strangest circumstances, and they help you feel alive. i don’t know if that makes me believe in coincidence, or fate, or sheer blind luck, but it definitely makes me believe in something.
